Funeral Service or Celebration of Life

Are you planning a funeral or celebration of life service? I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this loss - I know how stressful arranging a funeral can be.

If you’d like me to be the Celebrant for the service I will work with your chosen Funeral Director, or if you are planning a service independently, I will liaise directly with the venue to ensure all necessary arrangements are in place. Normally held at a Crematorium, Cemetery or Burial Site, a funeral will usually include music, opening words, a eulogy and tributes, poems or readings and a committal or farewell. While these are the basic elements of many ceremonies, I will help you to choose what feels right for the occasion, and include any family members or friends who wish to contribute or participate.

Memorial Services, Interment or Scattering Ashes

A loving service to commemorate of a life where there is no body present, or to bury or scatter ashes after cremation. This might be structured in the same way as a Funeral Service, and can include any elements you wish - music, readings, symbolic elements, photos, etc. This service may be held at a cemetery, burial site, or anywhere that feels appropriate.

Funeral FAQs

How much do you charge for a funeral service? My current charge is £250-£260. I may add travel costs to this if the service is taking place more than 45 minutes from my home.

How long does a service last? Depending on how much you wish to include, a service can last anywhere between 20-45 minutes. Some services may be longer if necessary.

Can I have more than one ceremony? Yes, you can. Perhaps a funeral followed by separate cremation service, or a private funeral followed by a memorial or celebration of life, or a cremation service followed by a burial of ashes… all things are possible. Just ask me.

Can I use a Celebrant if I am religious? Yes, I am happy to lead a service which incorporates any faith, or no specific faith at all. I am very comfortable including prayers and rituals of any religion in my services.

How is an Independent Celebrant different from a Humanist Celebrant? Whereas Humanists specifically eschew all religious references, practices and rituals in their services, an Independent Celebrant (if requested) is free to incorporate any and all aspects of any faith that give meaning and comfort to the participants.
